ECRYPT-NET School on Correct and Secure Implementation
Crete, Greece, 8–12 October 2017

Introduction

The venue has changed!

The ECRYPT-NET project organizes a school on correct and secure implementations. The school will be held from 8-12 October 2017 in Porto Platanias Beach Resort & Spa 5*, PlataniƔs, ChaniƔ, Crete, Greece. The school will run from Monday morning till early afternoon on Wednesday and is followed by presentations by the ECRYPT-NET fellows.

This school exposes the participants to side-channel attacks, fault attacks and bug attacks that are an effective method to break most currently fielded implementations of cryptography. Learning targets are how to engineer correct and secure implementations of existing cryptosystems and understanding how different design choices in cryptosystems can facilitate, or complicate, secure implementations.

This school is co-hosted with the ECRYPT CSA Workshop on Symmetric Crypto designed for side channel and fault resistance (12-13 October).

Transportation

In the island of Crete there are two airports located in the cities of Chania and Heraklion respectively. The airport of Heraklion is the main one, although the airport of Chania is also pretty active by handling many national and international flights, including e.g. Ryanair. You may also get good deals booking a ticket to Athens and a separate Ryanair ticket to Chania.
If you decide to arrive at Heraklion airport, then you have to take a local bus from the airport to the Heraklion bus station (there are many buses that serve this route). For more information you can visit http://astiko-irakleiou.gr/en/#main.
From Heraklion bus station you can take an intercity bus to Chania. There is usually one bus per hour. For more information you can visit https://www.ktelherlas.gr/en/ and https://ktel.azureedge.net/assets/docs/%CF%87%CE%B1%CE%BD%CE%B9%CE%B1.pdf. Keep in mind that the trip to Chania takes about 2.5 hours. Once you arrive at Chania bus station you can take a local bus to the hotel (the buses with destinations Kolybari, Kasteli, and Gerani make a stop exactly outside of the hotel). Usually there is a bus per 15-30 minutes. For more information you can visit http://chaniabus.gr/en/#main.
In case you arrive at the Chania airport you have first to take a bus to the Chania bus station. There is usually a bus per 0.5 to 1 hour. Here is a timetable http://www.e-ktel.com/images/pdfs/AIRPORT_FROM_01-07-2017.pdf
Then you have to take a bus to the hotel as in the previous case.
